ECPC's Member of the Month March 2011 is:

ISABEL ORIOL DIAZ DE BUSTAMANTE (AECC, SPAIN)

 

Born in Madrid, Isabel Oriol holds a degree in Biology from the Complutense University of Madrid. She has also completed a Masters of Philosophy at the Francisco de Vitoria University  and a PhD in Bioethics.

Isabel Oriol has worked in the management departments of several companies and volunteered at non-governmental organisations (NGO)s. In 2001, she joined the Spanish Association Against Cancer (AECC) as a volunteer, and was responsible for managing its Scientific Foundation, dealing with everything related to management of the funds for research.

In June 2006 she became Vice-President of the Science Foundation of the AECC and in January 2007, Vice-President of the Spanish Association Against Cancer.

In June 2008, with the agreement of the Extraordinary General Meeting of the AECC, she was appointed President of the Spanish Association Against Cancer and its Scientific Foundation, positions she holds today.

 The Spanish Association Against the Cancer was created in 1953 with the aim of fighting against cancer it all its current and future forms. The organisation leads Spanish efforts to diminish the impact of cancer on human lives and improve the quality of life of patients. It is active across Spain thanks to the 53 regional representations and more than 2000 local offices.
