In November 2005 the Second Central and Eastern Europe Cancer Patients Advocacy Groups Summit took place in Warsaw (Poland). After a first successful conference in 2004, the second CEE (Central & Eastern Europe) Summit continued the exchange of information and sharing of best practice between the newly developing patient groups of Central & Eastern Europe and those more advanced from Western Europe. The meeting programme has been put together by ECPC, the Polish Foundation for Humanitarian Aid "RES HUMANAE" and The Institute for Patients’ Rights & Health Education. The Congress was attended by over 230 delegates from 68 organizations representing 14 countries in Europe. The Warsaw Declaration, produced and endorsed at the Summit, stresses the need to make high-quality, up-to-date prevention, treatment and care equally attainable throughout Europe, especially in the more disadvantaged CEE member states.
