European Parliament Elections PDF Print E-mail

mac_colour_smallThe 70 MEPs in MAC have been hugely influential in getting cancer back on the EU agenda. Cancer patients are voters! We hope we can count on the newly elected MEPs to continue creating awareness about the fight against cancer!

Did you know that one in three European will be diagnosed with cancer at one time in their life. And cancer patients are voters!

It is because of these devastating cancer figures, shared by the 27 EU Member States, that Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) have set up an all party group to combat cancer, MEPs against Cancer (MAC). MAC was set up in March 2006 in order to make combating cancer a political priority for action in Europe. MAC currently has 70 members and we intend to grow in the new Parliament. MAC's work was hugely influential in getting cancer back on the European agenda. MAC has been instrumental in adopting a Resolution to combat cancer across the enlarged EU.

In all surveys health is one of the most important concerns of our citizens. Cancer is therefore a good issue to include in each MEP's election campaign. With hardly any family spared from this disease, fighting cancer touches people's heart and makes Europe relevant to citizens. Please help us to create awareness about the burden of cancer!

Once the new MEPs are elected, we would very much like to invite them to join the European Parliament group MEPs against Cancer (MAC).

We count on everyone's support to fight cancer!
