EU Commission Report on Cancer Screening published
Dear ECPC member, Important news: today the European Commission has presented its first report on screening programmes for breast, cervical and colorectal cancer and how well screening is being implemented across Europe. The report reveals that although progress has been made by member states in implementing cancer screening programmes, less than half of the minimum recommended number of screenings take place each year. There are great variations in the way programmes are organised in the EU countries. ECPC -- through our President Lynn Faulds Wood, a colon cancer survivor -- is an official partner in developing the colorectal cancer screening guidelines. For more information (EU press releases and reports on cancer screening, as well as description of ECPC's activities), please visit the ECPC website at >> Health in the EU >> EU Health >> Cancer Screening. If you would like ECPC's help in encouraging your Ministry of Health to improve their screening programmes, please email us at
